Backstory

Way back yonder in 2008, three unlikely lads got together and embarked upon a musical journey with no particular expectations. Their mission.....? To write and perform original music using only the humble ukulele.

Thus, The Nukes were born and quickly they grew into a bonny wee thing, gaining a reputation across Aotearoa for boisterous live shows and impressive original material.

The intervening years have seen The Nukes cover a lot of ground...peaks and valleys, tears and tantrums, break ups, reunions, near death experiences and eventual line up changes. With three albums and one songbook behind them, The Nukes now proudly present album no.4 ‘Homespun’.

Recorded in and around the COVID 19 Pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, Homespun is largely a product of the DIY ethic and a reflection of the modern times in which we all live. This songbook includes material from The Nukes back catalogue as well as ‘Homespun’.

The ukulele is a great way to share music, and these songs are meant to be shared, so please spin them anyway that feels right to you!
